Bedside Crib and Travel Cot
Bedside cribs are a bassinet-style cot that is attached to the side of your bed. Some have a side that can be adjusted to allow easy access, while others come with an incline that is ideal for babies with reflux.

Easy to put together
Bedside cribs are typically simple to set up and are usually on the smaller side to fit neatly alongside your bed. They also tend to be lighter, making them more mobile. You can keep an eye on your child from the comfort of your bed with a crib that is placed at your bedside. It's an ideal option for a new mum recovering from a c-section, as you can easily lift baby to your side for nappy or night feeds changes without needing to get up. The most comfortable cribs have breathable mesh sides you can view your baby through.
Some cribs allow you to lower the barrier completely. This lets you sleep with your baby without any risk. (Make sure that the model chosen meets the current safety standards). Certain cribs let you lower the barrier but then lift it back up after you have lifted baby out. This is better for parents with concerns about their child rolling off their mattress.

The Next2me Magic, which was shortlisted for the Best Cot, Crib or Moses Basket at the 2021 Mother&Baby Awards, is also somewhat larger, but is still quite compact and easy to fit to your bed. Georgina found it straightforward to assemble too, although she was not convinced that the zips could have been better described on the instruction sheet.
Easy to clean
When you're looking at travel cots or bedside cribs, look for ones that have a mattress cover that is removable that can be machine-washed. This will keep it clean and free of dribbles, spills, and leaky diapers. You should also select a model that is easily disassembled to allow you to clean and sanitise all the nooks.
This is vital, since it will ensure that all dirt and germs have been cleared away. Verify that the sides of the crib are securely attached to ensure that your baby won't fall down or get trapped.
You'll also need to make sure that the crib is easy to clean and it is a good fit for your bed. This is especially important in the case of a bedside crib for co-sleeping.
