An Bedside Crib And Travel Cot Success Story You'll Never Imagine

Bedside Crib and Travel Cot

Bedside cribs are a bassinet-style cot that is attached to the side of your bed. Some have a side that can be adjusted to allow easy access, while others come with an incline that is ideal for babies with reflux.

MFM tester Georgina said that the crib was easy to build and the directions were extremely clear. It was a fast build. It also folds down into an extremely compact size and comes with a handy bag for traveling.

Easy to put together

Bedside cribs are typically simple to set up and are usually on the smaller side to fit neatly alongside your bed. They also tend to be lighter, making them more mobile. Georgina one of our MFM home testers, praised the Maxi-Cosi Lora crib for being "super easy to construct, with clear instructions and easy zips." The crib can be used as a portable travel crib, and it comes with a handy bag. It comes with multiple mesh windows that allow for ventilation, and the adjustable height makes it will fit any mattress.

Some cribs for bedside use an additional side panel that can be raised, allowing easy access to your baby without having to get out of your bed. This is a great option for mothers who are breastfeeding or for those who want to be close to their baby at night, but don't wish to risk co-sleeping.

Many models come with built-in functions that allow you to rock your baby. This can be a very comforting experience for your baby and help them fall asleep. Some cribs can recline in a position that can be useful if your baby has reflux or colic. This position should only be used under supervision. You should consult your doctor or health professional before you attempt it.

Most cribs with a bedside come with a canopy to protect your baby from light or noise, which is helpful in keeping them peaceful. Some cribs have an under-bed storage space that can be used to store extra blankets, diapers and other clothes for your child.

A lot of bedside cribs can be converted into toddler beds or standalone cots. This is a major selling point for many families. The Joie Roomie is the winner of the 2021 Mother and Baby Awards is a fantastic example. It has removable side panels and a conversion kit and a tummy-tilt that makes it travel-friendly. It also comes with 5 different height adjustments to fit your bed, and was loved by our MFM home testers for its ease of build and comfortable. It is also compact and easy to move around. Easy to clean

When you're looking at travel cots or bedside cribs, look for ones that have a mattress cover that is removable that can be machine-washed. This will keep it clean and free of dribbles, spills, and leaky diapers. You should also select a model that is easily disassembled to allow you to clean and sanitise all the nooks.

This is vital, since it will ensure that all dirt and germs have been cleared away. Verify that the sides of the crib are securely attached to ensure that your baby won't fall down or get trapped.

You'll also need to make sure that the crib is easy to clean and it is a good fit for your bed. This is especially important in the case of a bedside crib for co-sleeping. These are designed to attach securely to the side of the parent's bed which allows parents to easily access their infant throughout the night for feeding and comforting while still ensuring separate sleeping areas.

Another aspect to consider when choosing a bedside crib is whether it has any extra features you might consider useful. For instance, some cribs have the capability to rock (useful for sleepers who are fussy) or tilt - but be aware that you should only make use of this feature with caution because it could be dangerous if your child is thrown out.

You'll also want to ensure that your cot or crib has a firm and flat mattress that is snugly inserted into the frame. This will lower the risk of SIDS by making sure that your baby's feet and head don't slide down into any gaps or folds in the bedding.

It's also a good idea to buy a new mattress for your travel cot or crib instead of using one that was given to you by someone else or bought second-hand. Used mattresses are more likely to lose their shape with time and increase the risk of SIDS. All new cribs must meet BS EN 1130:2019, the most recent standard that introduces more stringent requirements for safe and effective sleep solutions.
